Living life at its best

A geek's journal on things that did not matter the most.

Of Sigma, Beta, Delta, Lamda, Yada, Yada & Ramadhan...

Friday, September 22, 2006

The title of the post makes no sense, at least the last one do make sense... And I, for one, is trying to make sense out of it for the past week. Why? Because I was attending one of those _problem_solving_ + _project_management_ programme by Motorola University. It is where problems are dealt and solved with Mathematical and Statistics equations and techniques. I'll tell you it is a brain buster! You'll see Mathematical equations like σ = f(√β1 x δ)/R⅛ .. Don't ask! Everyday since Monday, my brains are working in overclock mode trying to absorb those equations!

What I really want to say is that: I have heard of solving problems with Mathematical approach, but it really blows me off when I'm actually experiencing it real life hehehe... and the experience is priceless! =D

I'm so used seeing problems solved using lines consisting of the likes:

randstr() {
[ $# -eq 0 ] && return 1

n=$(( ($RANDOM % $#) + 1 ))
eval _RETVAL=\${$n}
}

but that is at system level. This one is something very very new and alien to me hehe.. Enjoying and thrilling but at the same time gasping for air hahaha! Oh well, people say good things never come easy - and I have to agree on this... But overall, the course is very good - I would recommend anyone of you to take it:~

export YOU="whoami"
export HAVE_LOADS_OF_CASH="RM1,000,000.00"
export TAKE_COURSE="http://www.motorola.com/mu"

if [ $YOU = $HAVE_LOADS_OF_CASH ] ; then
/usr/local/bin/mozilla $TAKE_COURSE; else
echo "Dear HR, Kindly sponsor this course for me for I will be a problem solver"
fi

(Do excuse me. It's just that I'm feeling geeky lately hehehe)

And because of this, everyday since Monday, I'm a regular at KLCC park and Aquaria from 5.30PM to around 8PM hehe... Letting time sliped by as I was there taking shots - the usual stuffs for the past 3-4 months...

Tomorrow (Saturday) will be the last day of the course... Pheww! Glad that it is over just in the nick of time before Ramadhan... If not, terkuap-kuap la daku dalam class hehehe and the meleleh seeing the non-muslims colleagues makan-makan! hehehe

Anyway.. Tomorrow I think I'll go out with Syscalls and have a our own photo shoot session at Taman Burung KL. Not sure PJ and GBam will tag along.. Entah jadi ke tidak.. Hentam jek laaaa

OK for now... going to LalaLand... Tomorrow is still another equation day =D

Selamat Menyambut Ramadhan dan Berpuasa (cukup-cukupkan la sebulan pose tuu)

Hands in my pocket

Friday, September 08, 2006

Finished work. Reach home. Feeling tired. Empty my pockets. Took a picture. Lots of picture. Pictures of my pocket content. Content of the day. Played around with settings. Made the third HDR attempt. And this is what I have in my pocket at the end of the day. Love it or hate it. I don't care anyway. :P

Original Image.

HDR result (after combining 13 shots at different exposure)

I'm so into camera..... zZzzZzz

Danger! Danger! Danger! ... Errr Dead?

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

My friend, Syscalls highlighted it to me today. Steve "The Crocodile Hunter" Irwin is dead. CNN reported this here. Well, looks like the crocodile hunter is no more... Odd thing is, he's killed not by a crocodile, but rather a jab to the chest by a stingray! Read all about it here la... Guess it's true then since CNN reported it... Unless they decided to pull a prank... hehehe

Let's focus on Austin Stevens now. He's been bitten by cobra before and still survive! And I love his camera! hehehe

Say "NO" to open burning cause...

Saturday, September 02, 2006

... it really is sucks. It's really unhealthy. It creates what we called "HAZE". Because of this, people met in accidents. Why on earth do you commit open burning? Is it because its the easiest (cheapest?) way to clear a land? Whatever it is, it's damn selfish and inconsiderate act. Be it for what ever reason. Period.

And because of this, I totally wasted my Saturday evening. Wasted my energy climbing a freaking hill. Wasted my time spent on climbing the hill. Wasted a few pint of my blood to mosquitoes (OK.. a bit of exagerating but you know what I mean.) Wasted more time of getting a good shot. Wasted my re-chargeable batteries. It is a waste. And all because of what? HAZE. A direct outcome of inconsiderate and selfish human beings.

This is where I went to practise my shot.

I went out of my apartment around 5PM and decided to go up to a look-out post on a hill adjoining my apartment. So went down to the mini jungle reserve and started my climb - 20 minutes of my precious time. Reached up the post and the air was just cooling and refreshing. Very the tranquile you know... So fired up my Canon.. and what was I presented with? Haze, Haze, Haze and more Haze! F@%$)(@#$! Totally wasted! Bagero! My feet is killing me. My T is soaking with my sweat. I got mosquitoe bites on my arm and legs. And all for a lousy shot of haze.

This is what I get after all the trouble I went through.

I gave up and went down and it was getting dark (thanks to the HAZE and the shades of the trees). Stumbled upon a beatiful spider and totally screwed the shot. Just ain't my day...
Just head home you geek. Unsatisfied and very the pissed off.

One screwed up shot of a beautiful spider.

Tenkiu and babai (if you decide to read up to this point that is).

In the end, it doesn't really matters. It still sucks.

Happy Merdeka Day!

Friday, September 01, 2006

Wishing all Malaysians a happy Indepence Day! Unlike most, I was at the office - providing support to the global enterprise. And a very, I repeat, a VERY hectic day at the office! Unlike most days, this day is pretty much horrible, a BIG THANKS to MICROSOFT and their stupid Internet Explorer patch that made our day miserable! To top things up, a host-based IDS/IPS vendor produced an attack signature based on the freaking Internet Explorer vulnerability a step too much and without precission data analysis - causing major problems to daily operations... What a day! Lesson learned - Microsoft will give you headaches for insecurities in their applications and operating systems. Switch to Open Source!

Did not manage to get any Merdeka nightshots but I manage to get one of the most beautiful Merdeka sunsets later in the day at my home. Loved it or hate it. Also today, tried for the first time HDR imaging.. kinda sucks hehe..

HDR imaging on sunset

Sunset over at my house

The Canon PowerShot S3 gang has grown within the circle of friends - with Syscalls joining the ship hehe with PJ and Rids already owning S3 cameras. Waiting for Baksoto and the rest join the ultra zoom camera.. Next up - move to digital SLR (dunno when it will happen though hehe). Ab4h as usual is busy with his Nikon D50 digital SLR (tak pe tunggu Canon EOS aku kluar haha).

Uhmmm.. mati idea nak tulis - Bye for now! If the bulb comes back, I'll add more :D
