When a man loves a woman
Friday, August 28, 2009
A wedding reception that took place somewhere in June if I'm not mistaken. I don't normally do weddings and would avoid it unless when the requester is a family or friend.
Tech Specs: Ambient light only. No flash. Inside a room with an orange curtain. Shot with a 50mm f/1.8 wide opened.

Cooling Ramadhan.
Thursday, August 27, 2009
Wishing all Muslims around the world a good month of fasting in Ramadhan.
An old shot from the archive during DanielKHC last visit to Kuala Lumpur. Awe2020 and SPNikon joined us as well that day.
Note:It's the start of the rainy season now and the haze has cleared up (at least for now). But with fasting month now, I'm too tired to go out to shoot, plus going for sunset shots will make me miss break fasting with family :-)
Tech Specs: 9 exposures tone mapped HDR, with a touch of DRI using 2 original images via Smart Objects.

Curvaceous

I was out shooting with Ragstatic last night. I found this place quite sometime ago and already visited with Ariffin. But we decided not to post any pictures just yet until Ragstatic is here.
So yesterday, I had a great time going out with the master himself and such an occasion demands a vantage point of the same status!
My only wish is that Daniel was there too :\
Apart from the Rajesh, awe2020 and Acidsulfurik were also present!
Tech notes: 15 exposures HDR, blended with original shots. Had to expose all the area in the frame and it is very very hard! The amount of f-stops difference is just crazy!

Light up my sky!
Monday, August 24, 2009
An outing that almost didn't happen due to rain. Well lady luck was on our side and by the time we reached this "look out" point, the rain had stopped :-)
An outing with Ariffin, Abah and Rekospective.
Also, this is my first take on vertorama :-)
See other pictures from this point here and here.
Tech Specs: 8 exposures tonemapped HDR for the city and another 8 exposures tonemapped HDR for the sky. Manually stitched in CS3.

The flow of life
Friday, August 21, 2009
This was taken last week at Kemensah with Daniel, awe2020 and SPNikon. Coincidentally, this was our last outing with Daniel in Malaysia as he has relocated to Dubai.
The weather was really against us this day. It rained but then stopped for a brief while. Once we're done shooting at this location and went for dinner, it rained again - a really heavy one. Spoiled the night shooting plans that we had.
I wish you the very best my friend! And hope to see more masterpiece from across the globe. We'll definitely miss going out shooting with you bro!
A blend of 2 tonemaps from 7 exposures and 1 DRI.

Calling the dark knight
Thursday, August 20, 2009
I was about to give up when I saw a slow moving clouds started to gather low at the horizon.
This was all taken quite sometime ago when rekospective and me decided on the last minute to drive to Putrajaya. I wouldn't call it a waste with a scene like this :-)
Tech details: 9 exposure tone mapped HDR, a bit of PSB blending using smart objects for the clouds. A little crop was done for the top part to remove the black sky.

Light at the end
Wednesday, August 19, 2009
As they said, you will see light at the end of the tunnel when you die hehe.. Nope! I'm not dead (yet)!
I was at the Batu Caves and met another photog, Lucie. She was in KL for a short 3 days after touring Vietnam and Cambodia.
I think this is the first time that I have a shot inside the caves that I liked :-) All the previous ones were just crap! hehe
Tech Specs: 9 exposures tone mapped HDR, layer masked with a 1 DRI using smart objects consisting of 2 over exposed shots

Tagged!
Tuesday, August 18, 2009
As title says, I was tagged by my good buddy Daniel. And following the tag, this is the 5th picture from my 5th folder. Off course the 5th one is one of bracketed exposures so in doing so, I am obliged to apply tone mapped HDR for it.
Tanjung Harapan (Cape of Hope) is located near the Northport in Port Klang.
And yes this is also taken last year while visiting this place with Daniel.
So there you go!
Tech Specs: Tone mapped HDR from 12 exposures. 9 exposures for the overall scene and 3 exposures were taken to expose just the sun. Also digitally blended with 1 exposure from the originals using smart objects.

What's up there Dad?
Monday, August 17, 2009
Meet my son. He's a little over 2 years old now and almost everything interest him. In this case he's fascinated by the flash light bounced to the ceiling.
My photography outing is kinda limited these days, the haze is just bad. It rained quite often and often enough is not adequate to flush the haze out..
Tech Spec: Nothing fancy just a single 430EX bounced to the ceiling. No HDR, no DRI.

Reaching for the sky
Friday, August 14, 2009
Another view of the Petronas Twin Towers. Taken while Rajesh was on brief trip to KL. Ariffin was there too!
Have I told you that I love my angle finder? Yes I love it very much - wouldn't leave home without it! Really opens up a new perspective :D
Way Way Way Better If Viewed Large On Black
Some inside info about this image, this is a 9 exposure HDR but processed twice. The first HDR process was done using Auto White Balance and the same RAW files were reprocessed again but this time, the white balance was changed to tungsten - to get the blue hues, obviously. The two image then blended together - the tungsten was used on the towers itself and the night sky.

Beam me up!
Thursday, August 13, 2009
The aliens have come! Well actually no, this is the entrance to Tower 1 at the Petronas Twin Towers. Shot during Rajesh very, very short stay in KL. Ariffin was there too! For a more exaggerated view using fisheye, check out Ariffin's stream!
Tech Details: 9 exposure HDR. No blending, just straight old HDR processing.

Desolate
Wednesday, August 12, 2009
Tanjung Harapan is a notable tourist attraction in Selangor (Although nothing much there in actual). It is located near the Northport in Port Klang.
A litlle story behind this - I know where the place is but I seriously have no idea on how to get there (been there previously like 2 times and that was like 7-8 years ago!). Lucky for me, Daniel's cool mobile has a GPS. SO we're able to reach there in time for some spectacular sunset/blue hour!
This will be the last photo outing with him as he will be re-locating to Dubai. Definitely will miss going out with the master himself again!
Tech notes: This is a PSB taken a bit later from the previous one - hence the golden glow on the rocks are from the street lights. I made 3 tonemapped HDR and 1 DRI from it and blended it using smart objects (thanks to Daniel for shedding some light into it!) and also Rajesh's PSB technique. All in all 18 exposures were used to create this.

Cyberjaya Lake Garden.
Another trip to the Cyberjaya Lake Garden not too long ago. During this outing, I was joined by rekospective, AcidSulfurik and two of rekospective's friends (I can't recall the named, sorry!). I just wanted to try out some Black and White shots with HDR - I kinda like it :-)
By the way, for viewing pleasure do view it large :-)
Tech Specs: 9 exposures tone mapped HDR. The long exposure was done using the Hoya ND400 filter.

A sunset during our family vacation in Port Dickson. I missed the sunset on the day we arrived, and this one is on the second day we were there. There's no sunrise here as it is located on the west coast.
We stayed at the Legend Water Chalet during our stay here. Nice rooms and not that expensive. But I would say I prefer Avillion much much more because of their private beach and much beautiful scenery. Legend lacks a private beach.
Some tech in-sight about this picture - digitally blended from 3 tone mapped HDR taken in an interval of 7 ~ 10 minutes apart (Rajesh's PSB). Also merge with a DRI version using smart objects.

El Nino in Cyberjaya
Friday, August 07, 2009
CyberJaya Lake Garden. On my way back home, I noticed the haze was not as much as in the morning. So I decided to not miss this chance and went straight to this area. The lake has dried up quite a lot due to the heat.
Note: I'm still attending my daily life and my wife pregnancy. It's now 5 months into the pregnancy and another 4 to go :-) I'll still be on and off Flickr for sometime until the birth of our second one.
Tech Specs: 9 exposures tone mapped HDR. Nothing special except the use of Hoya ND400 filter for long exposure.

HDR outing
Thursday, August 06, 2009
This is an old shot from one of many Daniel's visit to KL. I found this while filtering some old archive folder.
I just can't remember why I didn't have any sunset shots from this angle. Ohh well at least I have this.
Note: If you're wondering why there was no traffic, well the flyover highway was not opened yet to the public and was in its final stages. Hence, we have the highway all for ourselves! Cool huh? :D
One night shot DRI taken fom here can be viewed here.
If you like, do feel free to view it Large here

An old shot from the archives. This was taken during one of Daniel's previous visit to KL.
This is a straight forward HDR using 7 exposures with Photomatix and a little post processing in Photoshop. No PSB or blending.

About Clouds, Water and a Bridge

Another sunset shot in Putrajaya. This one is deep in my archives. I believe this one was taken when Mr. Daniel and I visited Putrajaya. I know the humidity was very high at that particular time :-)
Tech Specs: 9 exposures tone mapped HDR, blended with 2 original shots using smart objects.
