Dynamic in Range - HDR unlimited
Saturday, January 20, 2007
I've been into these HDR stuff lately and I don't think I can free myself nor that I want to be free of HDR hehe and I think a fellow Blogger/FlickR buddy, Scott (Scott's Flickr site is here.) is having the same experience with HDR and FlickR. HDR is something like an eye-opener and FlickR, well, the more appreciative comments you have, the more addicted you get hehe
But what I really need to try now is those single RAW HDR. As you can see from my FlickR, my HDR is pretty limited to buildings/landscape and off course macro (day time and night time). But what I really want is to do some portraits on HDR and also some while-driving-shots ( kids, don't do this please). There some sceneries that are just awesome and stopping the car at the side is impossible. There's no way I'm gonna get it going using multiple exposure bracketing so the only way to get it done is by single RAW conversion.
But then, here's the little problem that I have - Canon Powershot S3 does not have RAW, only JPEGs. So scratch the single RAW thingy aside until my new Canon EOS 400D comes in *heh heh heh*
Well, at the moment, I'll just make do with what I have :)
Hmm getting a wide angle converter for my PowerShot S3 seems a good idea...
Again, like always, my blog wouldn't be complete without my shots! Hahaha (Oh before I forgot, these are HDR shots using multiple exposure.)

2007 - What's New?
Sunday, January 07, 2007
Uhmm let me see....
Special note: I have a new interest in photography - High Dynamic Range (HDR) Imaging.
These are my attempts on HDR imaging using my Canon PowerShot S3 IS and Photomatix:
- I am going to be a father to a cute little son :)
- I am going to get a digital SLR camera (Canon off course)
- I am going to explore photography more seriously
- I am going to make a long list of movies to watch this year (Transformers!)
- I am going to get more and more money (I hope)

So what made me trying out HDR? Check out Trey's FlickR and Blog. Awesone and serious HDR grandmaster!
The other thing is that, I'm pretty unsatisfied with long exposures at 15 seconds/f8 on the S3, especially when there are street lights or excessive light source around - it just can't cope with it. By using HDR, I can now take shorter exposures, around 4-5 seconds with f4.5 or f5 and still get proper exposure. No overblown/underexposed here and there, well at least the overblowns/underexposed did not affect the overall image. It helps me with my long exposure experimentations with crazy lightings.

And I think I would throw in a Calendar set of year 2007, created with some of my favorite shoot using FD's FlickR toys. Check out this post later on!
Last but not least - Happy New Year, may the year 2007 will be a very good one!
